Your data

Delete your account and data

You can delete your Vow account and everything the app stores, from inside the app, in under a minute. It cannot be undone. It does not cancel an App Store subscription — do that separately.

In the app

  1. Open Vow and go to the Profile tab.
  2. Tap Settings, then scroll to the bottom and tap "Delete account & data".
  3. Confirm. If you signed in with Apple, confirm with Apple when asked, so Vow can revoke its access to your Apple ID.
  4. Vow deletes your account, erases your quit data from this device and starts fresh.

What is deleted

  • Your quit data on this device: habits, reasons, photos, voice notes, check-ins, cravings, notes, streaks, plans and achievements, plus scheduled reminders. App preferences such as language, appearance and your analytics choice are kept.
  • Your sign-in account in Firebase Authentication — the anonymous identifier, and your Apple or Google sign-in details if you added them. Firebase removes them from its backups within 180 days. If you signed in with Apple or Google and the account cannot be deleted at that moment (for example, you are offline), nothing is erased and you can try again. If you never signed in, your account is only a random identifier; should it not be removable right then, it is no longer connected to your device or your data.
  • The link between your account and your subscription record at our subscription provider.

What is kept, and why

  • Apple’s purchase records. Apple keeps its own history of what you bought with your Apple Account.
  • Purchase records we must keep for tax and accounting, for as long as the law requires.
  • Analytics and crash data already collected, until they expire (crash reports after 90 days, usage events after no more than 14 months). They never contain your habits or reasons.
  • Copies in your own backups. iCloud or computer backups made before you deleted may still contain Vow’s data until those backups are replaced or deleted.

Cancel your subscription

On your iPhone, open Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Vow → Cancel Subscription. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have paid for.

Without the app

If you no longer have Vow installed, email support@heyvow.com with the subject “Delete my Vow data”. Include the email address of the Apple or Google account you signed in with, if you did. We may ask you to confirm the request comes from you, and we will complete it within 30 days. If you never signed in, we cannot connect an email to your anonymous account — but your quit data only ever lived on your device, and deleting the app removes it.
